In recent days, Greece and Puerto Rico have been intensifying their training camps ahead of upcoming qualification events for the “Football World Cup in Sailing".
For Greece, this will mark a historic debut. The team, known as ODYSSEIA, is preparing for its qualification regatta scheduled for July 14–17 in Switzerland. The event will feature Group F, where Greece will compete alongside Finland and Ukraine in the fourth qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico, racing under the name LOS BORICUAS, continues its preparations after already taking part in the 2022 qualification cycle. Unfortunately, the team did not manage to qualify for the SSL Gold Cup 2023, but the experience has strengthened their long-term development and ambitions. Their next opportunity comes in mid-November in Brazil, where they will fight for qualification once again.

Both teams are competing using the high-performance SSL47 class yachts, 47-foot carbon-fibre monohulls specifically designed for the SSL Gold Cup. These boats are sailed by mixed national crews of elite sailors and are built to deliver close, tactical, and physically demanding racing at the highest level.
The SSL Gold Cup format brings together national teams from around the world, creating a unique blend of Olympic-style teamwork and match-racing intensity, where every detail on the SSL47 can decide the outcome on the water.
