From 14 to 17 July, Team Greece "Odyssey" will compete in the SSL Gold Cup 2026 Qualifiers in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
Greece is currently the highest-ranked team in Group F, which also includes Finland and Ukraine. The team is looking forward to an exciting competition and aims to secure a place in the next stage.

The preparation started during the Summer Camp 2025. After months of training, the team is now practicing in Neuchâtel, the same venue where the qualifiers will take place. Training on the race course gives the sailors valuable experience before the competition begins.
For Greece, the sea is much more than water. It is part of the country's history, culture, and everyday life. Sailing has been passed from generation to generation, and Team Greece "Odyssey" proudly represents this long tradition. Inspired by the legendary voyage of Odysseus, the team combines history with modern competitive sailing.
The team is made up of Greece's top sailors, including Olympic athletes, world champions, and experienced offshore racers. Together, they bring outstanding sailing skills, teamwork, and years of international experience.

Emilios Papathanasiou is the captain and helm of Team Greece "Odyssey".
He has more than 40 years of sailing experience and has represented Greece at the highest level throughout his career. Emilios competed in five Olympic Games—four times in the Finn class and once in the Star class—with his best Olympic result being 5th place.
In addition to his sporting achievements, he has also held important leadership roles in major sports organizations, serving as both a board member and general manager.
With strong preparation, an experienced crew, and the spirit of Greek sailing, Team Greece "Odyssey" is ready to begin its journey toward the SSL Gold Cup 2026.
