Sophia started sailing at 8 years old. Although she didn't love sailing at first, the community and friends she made along the way kept bringing her back until she eventually fell in love with the sport as well. After starting in the Optimist class, Sophia graduated to the ILCA 4 and finally the ILCA 6. She is most grateful that she got to train with Bam, Thailand's Rio and Tokyo ILCA 6 Olympian. Not only did she learn lots sailing with and against Bam, but Bam also opened the door to many training opportunities for Sophia. Having just completed her second year in university, Sophia is taking a break from her studies to pursue her 2024 Olympic dream. The next year will be filled with some really exciting racing! When she's not sailing (or studying), Sophia loves scuba diving and hanging out with friends.
